Harvey Weinstein Found Guilty Of Rape & Criminal Sexual Act, — Acquitted Of Top Sex Charges

The verdict is in: Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie producer whose sexual abuse of aspiring young female actors sparked the #MeToo movement, has finally been brought to justice after a New York jury found him guilty.

Harvey Weinstein was convicted of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act in a split verdict in his New York City trial this Monday. However, he was acquitted of first-degree rape and two counts of predatory sex assault — which could have put him in prison for life. The jury of seven men and five women at the New York supreme court took five days to reach their verdict.

As of right now, it unclear how much time he would get for these crimes. However, it was noted that he could get up to 25 years in prison just for the criminal sexual act. As we previously reported, Weinstein initially pled not guilty to 5 felony charges relating to sexual misconduct. The charges were based on the accounts of 2 women; Miriam Haley, a production assistant who worked on “Project Runway,” and former actress Jessica Mann.
