Halle Berry Stands By What She Said After Causing A Social Media Frenzy By Calling Cardi B The “Queen of Hip Hop”: “All these ladies to me are queens. There Can Always Be More Than One!”

Halle Berry has caught wind of some of the negative comments online after she praised Cardi B as the Queen of Hip-Hop at a recent showing of her new film.

As it was previously reported, during Halle’s speech at the showing of the film “Bruised” which she stars in and directed, she praised Cardi for the soundtrack for the sports drama which is the first all-female hip-hop soundtrack ever: “I want to say thank you today to Cardi B — she was my partner in crime. I reached out to her. Of course, she’s the Queen of Hip-Hop,” Halle said on Nov. 13 of the “Up” rapper, who served as an executive producer on the film. “I reached out to Cardi and we paired and we created a soundtrack and an album that is not only historic, but a beautiful backdrop for this story,” the actress noted of the music’s impact on the film. Clearly, her comment bothered some folks. However, things got even more intense online after Winnie Harlow called Nicki Minaj the Queen of Hip-Hop at the MTV European Music Awards, sparking a huge debate. Despite that social media storm, Winnie cleared the air and tweeted, “I didn’t see Halle’s speech at the time. I been a fan since middle school & have always felt that way👑. I didnt know Nicki won until they handed me the envelope backstage but I’m proud af. Cardi is a sweetheart to me. What shade? I’m a fan of both.”

Halle Berry is now clearing the air on her end but said that she stands by what she said!: “here’s the thing, there’s room for more than one queen, people. That’s what we need to know. Nicki is a queen in her own right, H.E.R. is a queen. All these ladies to me are queens. There can always be more than one,” she said while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She added, “Queen is a term that we use to describe great. You know, we’re all a queen. All we do all day is say, ‘Hey queen!’ ‘What’s up, queen?’ ‘Yeah, queen!’ ‘What’s happening, queen?’. … Queen, queen, queen. We’re all queens.”
