A good Samaritan was killed after he rescued a man who fell onto the subway tracks during a gang assault at a Bronx train station.

The incident took place on New Years Day when a group of young men approached a 38-year-old man at the Fordham Road station on the B and D platform. NYPD investigators said one of the suspects showed a knife and the group started attacking him. Moments later, the victim fell into the train tracks and the good Samaritan, aged 36, jumped in to rescue him.
Tragically, he was struck by an oncoming train but the victim survived with a fractured arm. He was later transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Investigators added that the suspects fled the train station shortly after the attack.

As of Saturday, no arrests have been made and investigators released a photo of the ten suspects.
