G Herbo Clears The Air On Trump And National Guard Comments

Chicago rapper G Herbo recently found himself at the center of a heated debate after his comments about Donald Trump wanting to send the National Guard to Chicago went viral.

On Wednesday, the Big Swerv rapper told TMZ how he felt about the President’s plan for his city. “Just keep ‘em safe, man. Whatever you need to do to keep the kids safe, and the women,” Herbo said, not directly naming Trump.

“Whatever gonna keep us safe and clean the streets, man, I’m all for it. Just make sure the babies get home. That’s all I care about, man.”

His words immediately sparked backlash online. Some fans accused him of backing Trump, while others said he was simply speaking from a community-first standpoint. Read more on how rappers respond to political comments here.

Why G Herbo Says He’s Not A Trump Supporter

After the backlash, G Herbo stopped by Way Up With Angela Yee to set the record straight. He explained that his words were taken out of context and twisted into something political when that was never his intention.

“See they be trying to take my words and take what I say and like twist it. I wouldn’t say I’m in agreement. I think they took that as me trying to make a political statement. I’m not political. All I said was I’m all for keeping the kids and the women safe that’s what I was saying.”

Herbo doubled down that his comments were about protecting his community, not endorsing Trump. He made it clear that he cares about the safety of families in Chicago above everything else.

Trump’s Threats To Send National Guard To Chicago

Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to send National Guard troops to Chicago, framing it as a solution to the city’s struggles with gun violence. In August, Trump referred to Chicago as “a disaster” and “a killing field,” according to Politico.

This isn’t the first time Trump
has targeted Chicago with such rhetoric. His tough-on-crime stance has often been criticized for overlooking the deeper issues in urban communities, such as poverty, systemic racism, and lack of resources.

For locals like G Herbo, the debate isn’t about politics but about what actions will actually protect kids, women, and families trying to survive in their neighborhoods.
