A former digital strategist who worked for Donald Trump was arrested Friday for his alleged role in distributing child pornography.

The Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that 27-year-old Ruben Verastigui received and possessed child pornography between March 2020 and February 2021. Before his arrest, he worked for the Senate Republican Conference from March 2019 until July 2020. Between that time, Verastigui worked on social media ads for Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.
‘Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Division, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, the Northern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations announce an arrest has been made in a Distribution of Child Pornography offense that occurred in Washington, DC. Between March 2020 and February 2021, an investigation revealed the suspect distributed, received and possessed images of child pornography. On Friday, February 5, 2021, 27 year-old Ruben Verastigui, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Distribution of Child Pornography.’

According to the Daily Mail, Homeland Security investigated the former GOP aide and said he traded images of minors with at least 18 people under the username ‘Landon’ and the social media handle @somethigtaken. One statement he made in the group chat that he preferred ‘babies’ since they were his favorite. ‘Well like I said babies are some of my biggest turn-ons and beast. Young rape… F**k I love all that,’ said Verastigui.
