According to Yahoo! News, Bannon is the first to be indicted for contempt of Congress when the executive privilege was asserted. During the investigation of the Jan. 6 riots, the House Committee reported that Bannon refused to answer any questions and if he is convicted, he faces a year in prison along with a $100,000 fine.
The House Committee also subpoenaed 16 other former Trump administration workers for documentation and testimonies.

On Oct.27, the committee voted to find Bannon in contempt after he failed to provide the documentation regarding the riots despite making comments about the insurrection a day before in his radio show. Bannon’s lawyer also stated that his client will not be responding to the subpoena due to former President Trump decided to assert executive privilege so his former aides wouldn’t talk about the riots.
Bannon is expected to be arraigned in a federal court and is expected to enter a plea.
