A Brevard County woman was arrested after she plotted to murder her husband’s mistress as a birthday gift to herself.

In an arrest affidavit by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Ashley Monique Spencer was arrested on September 3 after she allegedly plotted to kill her husband’s mistress. She came up with the idea after she found out that the other woman gave birth to a baby boy and filed a child support case against Spencer’s husband. She also told a friend about the plan who told deputies on August 29 that Spencer made several threatening calls to the woman’s workplace at the Brevard County Jail. The mistress worked as a corrections officer with Spencer’s husband.
As reported by Heavy, the friend also explained how she received a Snapchat message from Spencer that read, “You know of any felons that don’t give a damn about life and willing to do a job?” said via phone call that Spencer found out about the affair, purchased a gun and wanted to harm the woman’s baby as well.

Spencer actually hired a “hitman” but it was later revealed to be an undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. She met with the agent on September 2 at a restaurant parking lot and their conversation was recorded. Spencer planned to break into the woman’s house and wanted to shoot the victim. She also stated she wanted the agent to tie the woman’s daughter up and hurt the baby.
Her motive for the planned murder was due to being unable to conceive with her husband and she became furious when finding out about the other woman’s pregnancy. Spencer was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and she is currently held at the Seminole County Jail since the victim is still working at Brevard County Jail.
