Florida Woman Arrested For Spraying Driver With Bear Mace Over Chicken Incident

A Florida woman has been arrested after a bizarre road rage confrontation that allegedly began when she stopped to let a chicken cross the road—and ended with her spraying another driver with bear mace.

According to Local 12, 38-year-old Cynthia Sosa was driving in Key West on July 9 when she stopped at an intersection to let a chicken cross the road. But another driver, apparently frustrated by the delay, began honking and sped around Sosa’s car, reportedly striking and killing the chicken.

That’s when things escalated quickly.

Victim Sprayed in the Face After Passing Chicken

Angry about what had just happened, Sosa chased after the other vehicle, authorities said. She allegedly drove ahead of the victim, blocked the road, and stepped out of her vehicle. Then, in a shocking turn, she attempted to open the other driver’s door and proceeded to spray bear mace directly into the victim’s face.

“Cynthia wanted to ‘teach her a lesson,’ so she pulled out her bear mace and sprayed it into the vehicle, spraying [the victim] directly in the face while she was seated inside,” said law enforcement officials.

The intense chemical spray left the victim temporarily incapacitated, and Sosa fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Charges Filed Against Cynthia Sosa

Police later tracked down and arrested Sosa. She is now facing two counts of aggravated battery and one count of burglary with assault or battery, according to Monroe County jail records.

This wild incident is the latest in a string of strange road rage cases in Florida, where disputes have escalated into criminal behavior.
