Florida Senior Citizens Camp In Line Overnight For COVID-19 Vaccine
Alongside first responders, Florida senior citizens, determined to receive a dose, camp in line overnight for the COVID-19 vaccine, which is being given out on a first-come-first-served basis.
On the sidewalk next to the Lakes Regional Library in Fort Myers, dozens upon dozens of elderly citizens lined up, sitting in folding chairs with blankets and snacks to get the life-saving shots.
After seeing friends die from the virus, the dozens of seniors said they didn’t mind waiting in the long lines to get vaccinated. One senior Kit Kerkesner says, “A friend of mine that died from the virus, he was from where I came from in Nevada. That was a horrible way to learn. Oh, yeah, this virus is for real.” Mentioning Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ order to grant priority for those 65 and older to receive the vaccine, even before essential workers; Kerkesner adds, “Governor DeSantis, when he did the 65 and over thing, he’s got my vote for life. I don’t know what more to tell you.”
