Florida Father Facing Charges After Slashing Daughters With Machete
In Lauderhill, Florida, a father, 47, is facing two counts of attempted murder for slashing his daughter, 10, and step-daughter, 17, with a machete on Friday (Feb. 14) after a dispute broke out.
Police Lieutenant Mike Santiago says officers responded to a “frantic caller”around 10 a.m., stating “there was an individual chopping up females.” He adds, “The person who committed this act was the father of one of the children, he showed up this morning, there was some sort of domestic dispute.”

In addition to attacking his daughters, officials say Dennis Reid attacked the mother during the argument, but fortunately wasn’t injured. Fire Rescue says the two girls suffered major lacerations; one stabbed in the neck, the other in the head and arm. Officials immediately transported them to Broward Health Medical Center, where they’re expected to survive.
In addition to the attacks on the three aforementioned, Reid’s other daughter, 5, was also in the home during the incident, but was not injured.
Following the incident, Reid fled the scene, but later turned himself in; where he now faces two counts of attempted murder.
