Female Scammer Who Tried to Profit Off Kobe Bryant’s Death Sent to Prison

A woman from California used the tragic death of Kobe Bryant to scam thousands from innocent people.

The scammer had recently completed a 7-year prison sentence for fraud charges, but that didn’t stop her. She recently lured investors out of their money by claiming that she was friends with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. The woman identified as Carolyn Jones from Corona, will be returning to federal prison for 20 months after she admitted to lying about having a $500,000 investment in her fake company from Lebron. She also claimed that the late Kobe Bryant had wanted his daughters to be the face of her brand, a blatant lie.

“In the wake of the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and one of his daughters, Jones used their deaths as a way to prop up her company and bolster her carefully-crafted image of being a well-connected entrepreneur,” prosecutors said in documents. “Text messages show that Jones falsely told the victim that she was in contact with the Bryant family after the crash, consoling them.”
