Federal Judge Orders Man Who Sat At Nancy Pelosi’s Desk To Remain In Jail For Months Or Longer
A federal judge has ordered Richard Barnett, the Arkansas man who sat at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s desk with his feet up during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, to remain in jail for months or longer.
Two weeks prior, an Arkansas federal magistrate ordered the 60-year-old rioter be placed on home detention as he awaits his trial on a felony charge of entering the Capitol with a dangerous weapon, as well as misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry to a restricted building, disorderly conduct and theft.

In response, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell, an appointee of President Barack Obama, shut down the order within hours of it being sent out. Following, Howell ended up granting the government’s appeal, ruling that Barnett will stay behind bards for months or longer.
Speaking on Barnett, Howell says, “His entitled behavior that he exhibited in videos and photographs when inside the Capitol show a total disregard for the law, a total disregard for the U.S. Constitution. This violence disrupted a constitutional function of Congress.”
