British Legend, Elton John broke down on stage while on tour in Auckland, New Zealand, on Sunday after he was unable to finish singing.
I’ve just completely lost my voice. I can’t sing,” Elton told the crowd. “I’ve got to go. I’m sorry.”
The 72-year-old singer revealed that he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia and told his fans that he was “deeply upset and sorry” for ending the show early.
“I want to thank everyone who attended the #EltonFarewellTour gig in Auckland tonight. I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia earlier today, but I was determined to give you the best show humanly possible.”
“ I played and sang my heart out, until my voice could sing no more. I’m disappointed, deeply upset and sorry. I gave it all I had. Thank you so much for your extraordinary support and all the love you showed me during tonight’s performance. I am eternally grateful. Love, Elton xx,” he wrote.
Elton seemed visibly upset as he was helped off the stage by staff. The Auckland show was part of his 300-date Farewell ‘Yellow Brick Road’ tour, which will be the last tour before his retirement.
