Donald Trump is making headlines once again. However, this time it’s not about politics, courtrooms, or campaign rallies.
Instead, folks online are reacting after the president admitted he may not even make it to his own son’s wedding. And honestly, people across social media already got jokes lined up because somehow the Trump family always finds a way to keep the internet talking.
According to reports, Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée Bettina Anderson are preparing to tie the knot during Memorial Day weekend in the Bahamas. The wedding is reportedly expected to be a small and intimate affair. Still, despite it being family business, the president says his schedule may get in the way.
Donald Trump Says Timing Around Don Jr.’s Wedding Isn’t Ideal
While speaking with reporters, the president was asked directly whether he planned on attending his eldest son’s wedding celebration in the Bahamas. His answer quickly started making rounds online because it sounded both honest and very Trump at the same time.
“He’d like me to go,” the president said about Don Jr. “But it’s going to be just a small, little private affair. I’m gonna try and make it.”
Now at 79 years old, Trump made it clear that international matters are taking priority at the moment. Specifically, he referenced growing tensions involving Iran while explaining why the timing simply may not work in his favor.
“I said, ‘You know this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things.'”
Social media users immediately reacted because the quote sounded almost unreal. Yet at the same time, it perfectly captured how Trump speaks publicly. One minute he’s talking about world politics. The next minute he’s discussing family wedding plans in the Bahamas. Humanity really created smartphones just so everybody could live-comment political family drama in real time. Incredible species behavior.
Even so, the president attempted to keep things light while joking about the criticism he expects no matter what decision he makes.
“That’s one I can’t win on,” he continued. “If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course.”
Despite the uncertainty, Trump still shared kind words for the couple. He revealed that he has known Bettina Anderson for quite some time and said he wishes both her and Don Jr. a “great marriage.”
Don Jr. And Bettina Anderson’s Relationship Continues To Draw Attention
Donald Trump Jr., 48, and Bettina Anderson, 39, officially announced their engagement during a White House holiday event on December 15, 2025. The announcement itself quickly gained attention because the president personally introduced the moment in front of guests.
For many people watching, it was another example of how the Trump family often blends politics, celebrity culture, and personal milestones all into one public spectacle. One minute there’s diplomacy happening. The next minute there’s engagement applause inside the White House. America truly treats politics like a reality show with a federal budget attached.
During the event, Don Jr. addressed attendees and shared a heartfelt message about his future wife.
“I’m not usually at a loss for words, because I’m usually doing the ranting and raving really well,” Don Jr. shared with the guests. “I want to thank Bettina for that one word: ‘Yes.'”
Since then, the couple has remained largely private regarding wedding details. However, according to Page Six, the pair plans to exchange vows over Memorial Day weekend during an intimate ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas.
