He then went on to add more saying, “They only brought this Fake, Corrupt, and Disgraceful Charge against me because I stand with the American People, and they know that I cannot get a fair trial in New York!” As we previously reported, a grand jury in New York voted to indict Donald Trump over his role in hush money payments to porn star, Stormy Daniels.

The grand jury returned the indictment of Trump after a vote on Thursday, the people said, marking the first time a former president has faced criminal charges. The indictment, sought by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, isn’t public. A spokesman for Mr. Trump and a spokeswoman for Mr. Bragg didn’t immediately comment on the breaking news.

Stormy Daniels is an adult film actress who claimed to have had an affair with Donald Trump in 2006, which Trump has denied. In 2018, just a few weeks before the presidential election, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, had arranged a payment of $130,000 to Daniels in exchange for her signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that prevented her from discussing the alleged affair publicly. Daniels later filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the NDA, claiming that it was invalid because Trump himself had never signed it. The lawsuit also alleged that Cohen had defamed her by insinuating that she had lied about the affair.

The scandal surrounding the alleged affair and the hush money payment made headlines and raised questions about potential campaign finance violations, as the payment was made just weeks before the election. Cohen ultimately pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations related to the payment, stating that he had acted at the direction of Trump.
