Donald Trump Booed at NFL Game During Lions-Commanders Halftime Tribute to U.S. Military

Well here’s something that wasn’t on the program… Sunday night at Northwest Stadium, what was supposed to be a star-spangled halftime moment turned into a full-blown “nah, we good” from the crowd. Donald Trump, standing center field during the Commanders vs. Lions game, stepped up to lead the Oath of Enlistment for new military recruits and the people made sure he felt every bit of their disapproval…

The boos hit early and heavy, drowning out the mic before Trump could even settle into his serious face. Folks weren’t whispering their feelings; they were projecting.

And honestly, the timing couldn’t have been worse. The country’s been stuck in shutdown mode for weeks, bills unpaid, government workers furloughed, military families stretching their checks like they’re on the last slice of bread. This shutdown, sparked by Trump’s standoff with Democrats, has already snatched the title for longest in U.S. history. So yeah, people are frustrated and it showed.

Usually, the NFL’s “Salute to Service” events bring that warm, flag-waving energy, military members on the field, the band blaring, fans cheering for the troops. But this year, that vibe was off. With the shutdown keeping a lot of service members grounded, the stands felt a little thinner and a lot louder once Trump showed face.

He came out trying to salute the soldiers, but the crowd was saluting something else entirely: accountability.

Now, this isn’t Trump’s first dance with the boo birds. D.C. fans booed him back in 2019 during the World Series, and folks at a UFC fight gave him the same energy later that year. Seems like wherever he pops up, the soundtrack stays the same: booooo.

At this point, it’s giving “main character at a villain arc.”

Trump might’ve expected applause for showing up during a military tribute but the people in those seats? They had a different message: you can’t wave the flag while the country’s still hurting.

Whew!
