Dave Chappelle Attacker Identified As Isaiah Lee, 23 — Charged With Felony Assault With A Deadly Weapon
The man who got washed to the shore by Dave Chappelle’s security team has been identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Lee.
According to Page Six, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Lee was booked and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon early Wednesday. He is being held on $30,000 bail.
As we previously reported, Lee is the man who was filmed attacking Dave Chappelle as he was performing at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Netflix Is a Joke festival. The mayhem unfolded around 10:45 p.m. local time toward the end of the stand-up show, according to witnesses. Video footage showed Chappelle standing on stage as Lee charged and slammed the comic to the floor. Seconds later, the attacker was rushed by Chappelle’s security, who delivered a major beat down on him. Thankfully, Chappelle wasn’t hurt at all. In fact, he even joked after the attack, “I don’t know if that was part of the show. I grabbed the back of that n***** head, his hair was spongy, absorbent.” Lee was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries before being booked behind bars.
Officer Lizeth Lomeli, a spokeswoman for the LAPD, shared that was carrying a replica handgun that had a blade inside. As a result of his horrible actions, Mr. Lee was left with severe injuries including a twisted arm, a humongous bruise to the head, bloody nose and scratches. It’s unclear who the attacker is or why he did it, but the show went on as planned.
Despite the shocking turn of events that night, fellow comedian and attendee Chris Rock also joked on stage about the wild moment. He said “Was that Will Smith?” in reference to the “King Richard” star slapping him at the Oscars in March over a joke he made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

While Rock has not yet shared how he felt about the ordeal, it seems like he’s possibly putting the Oscar’s slap behind him.
