Comedian, actor, and radio host D.L. Hughley joins ‘The Jason Lee Show,’ where he dives deep into his longstanding beef with fellow comedian and actress Mo’Nique, and how her comments ruined the relationship with one of his daughters. Hughley also talks about Katt Williams and recalls being doxxed by Kanye West and says despite their issues, and not respecting the rapper, it’s hard for #Ye to truly be canceled.

During the interview, Hughley talks about becoming an honorary member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, turning 60 years old (today, March 6), and his next career moves — like creating a new sitcom, which he hasn’t done in over 20 years. Hughley also notes that he loved hosting the ‘Daily Show‘ and wants to do it again, or another show like it to be able to talk about real, hard-hitting topics.

Hughley, whose younger self wanted to be a preacher, also reflects on one of his greatest achievements in becoming a member of the Kings of Comedy. He notes that he is very proud of what he and his fellow Kings (Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and the late legend, Bernie Mac) were able to accomplish. While speaking on where comedy is now, he says there is an appetite for mess, which he doesn’t condone, claiming if he wants mess, he’ll go to a family reunion.

While breaking down Katt Williams’ viral interview on Shannon Sharpe‘s ‘Club Shay Shay‘ podcast, D.L. Hughley off the rip insists that he will never go on the show because he doesn’t want to have to fight about stuff that was said before him. He also despises the notion that if you sit on Sharpe’s couch, you become the “Arbiter of Truth.” He says just because you said it first does NOT mean that it’s true, claiming, “It’s called ‘CLUB Shay Shay,’ not ‘COURT Shay Shay.'”

In reference to Williams’ comments on Cedric the Entertainer, Hughley says that he’s toured with the comic for a long time and has never heard anyone say anything bad about him. Hughley then breaks down his relationship with Williams and says they used to golf together in Calabasas, California. He also believes that Williams is one of the greatest people to do what he does.

Speaking on his beef with Mo’Nique and appearance on ‘Club Shay Shay,’ following Katt Williams, D.L. Hughley quickly admits that he hates how his kids have become involved in his comedy beefs. Just like with Williams’ interview, Hughley doesn’t like how “predatory and messy” Mo’Nique’s interview was, adding, “I hate that I was involved. It galls me that my name is involved,” along with his kids.

Hughley says because of his beef with Mo’Nique, who dragged his daughter Tyler’s sexual abuse trauma into the situation, he is no longer as close with his child. He reveals for the first time ever that Mo’Nique compromised his relationship with Tyler, who has stopped talking to him and has also had to seek therapy due to Mo’Nique’s comments. Hughley recalls how the beef started with Mo’Nique and he timelines how everything went down, including when they were put on the same tour together and beefed over contracts and titles.

D.L. Hughley also talks about his past beef with fellow comedian and actor Eddie Griffin, claiming they used hate each other. He admits that Griffin is crazy in general, but that he is one of the most good-hearted people out there. He also talks about another comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish, addressing her recent controversy over flying to Israel amid their war with Palestine. Hughley says he doesn’t like how Haddish is being torn down and up for cancellation, and how she lets people’s perceptions affect her.

Speaking of the current Israel and Palestine conflict, Hughley also doubles down on his criticism of DJ Khaled. He says he doesn’t have a problem with a man being successful, but adds, “I don’t know what’s in your head, I see what’s on your timeline.” Hughley has a problem watching Khaled, who is Palestinian, be carried by grown men so he doesn’t mess up his Jordans, while young Palestinian children are being carried to hospitals, crematories, and graves. He goes on to call DJ Khaled “DJ Callous.”

D.L. Hughley also talks about another publicized beef he had… with Kanye West. The comic says he will never respect Ye because he talks badly about Black people to White people. What infuriated Hughley the most was Ye’s comment about “slavery being a choice.” Although Hughley doesn’t respect Ye and has disliked him before his comments about Jewish people, he notes that it’s hard to cancel him because he’s always going to sell music and clothing that people will continue to consume.

Hughley also speaks on Ye’s actions with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. He says because this megastar is seen “stalking,” “harassing,” and “trolling” his ex-wife and children’s mother, common folk will follow in his steps. The comic also addresses his own confrontations with Kanye, including the rapper doxxing Hughley because of his comments about Ye making Kardashian feel unsafe. Hughley says he and Ye ended up meeting in a parking lot to settle their issues.

Later in the interview, D.L. Hughley gives his thoughts on the still-viral Oscars Slap involving Will Smith and Chris Rock and also offers his thoughts on the recent controversy with Diddy. While speaking on the multiple sexual assault lawsuits against the mogul, Hughley insists that he is in serious trouble. He also adds that it’s sad that some people are accusing him of stuff that he probably didn’t do. Hughley also comments on Donald Trump and his recently-debuted sneakers, and Beyoncé converting to Country music.
