Cynthia Bailey Says She Doesn’t Regret Divorcing Mike Hill, Reveals The ‘Final Straw’ That Caused Marriage To End: ‘We Weren’t Friends Anymore’

Cynthia Bailey stunned “Real Housewives” fans last month when she announced her breakup and divorce from soon-to-be ex-husband Mike Hill. The reality star made it seem as if she and Mike had simply drifted apart, though she insisted that their breakup was not on bad terms and that they were going their separate ways on good terms.

But during her recent appearance on Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge’s podcast, “Two Ts in a Pod,” Cynthia lifted the lid on what exactly led her marriage to collapse, explaining how the relationship came to a point where she no longer felt like her estranged husband was her friend anymore.

“I felt like it was just going toward we’re just not going to be friends if we didn’t pump the brakes,” she said. “This is not my first rodeo. I think friendship just has to be there in a marriage. Like, love is great, but friendship has to be there. I truly want to be with my best friend.” The model noted that their divorce was still in the process of being finalized, but she has no regrets about pulling the plug, and apparently neither did Mike.

“I don’t think either one of us regret our decision to move forward in the way we have decided to move forward,” she continued. “It’s not final yet. We’re still going through the process, so we’re still technically married. For me, there’s still just a lot of respect stuff on my end that I still feel like he’s my husband.”

Cynthia acknowledged that marriage isn’t always easy, and prior to the announcement of her divorce from Mike, there had already been cracks in the relationship that neither of the pair could overlook. While she didn’t elaborate on what exactly transpired in their romance that ultimately led them to say they no longer wanted to be together, Cynthia continued to wear her wedding ring up until the news was finally shared with the public.

A source via Radar Online previously dispelled claims that infidelity was to blame for the pair’s split, and given that Cynthia has still been very respectful in how she talks about Mike in her interviews, it wouldn’t appear as if there was any sort of cheating going on — at least not from what fans have gathered from her discussions about the breakup.

The mother of one also touched on an ongoing rumor that she could potentially be making her return to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” as a friend to the show. Cynthia had relocated to Los Angeles to be with Mike, but now that the romance is over, fans were hoping she’d head back to Atlanta.

But Cynthia says those claims are nothing more than widely-spread social media rumors. “I don’t know where this information came from, but it’s not true. And if it was true, I would hope that I would get to come back as a Housewife along with you, Teddi, and not a dag-on friend.”
