Florida congressman Matt Gaetz made a statement regarding pro-choice women and said they were “too ugly” to get pregnant during the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit.

During Saturday night’s conference, Gaetz called pro-choice women “disgusting” and claimed that ugly women shouldn’t be the ones to be worried about access to abortions. “Why is that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb,” he continued.

Gaetz also criticized protestors and women who are “5-foot-2 and 350 pounds” then added they needed to start a diet: “I’m thinking, march? You look like you’ve got ankles weaker than the legal reasoning behind Roe V. Wade.”

“They need to get up and march for like an hour a day, swing those arms, get the blood pumping, maybe mix in a salad.”

According to Business Insider, this is not the first time Gaetz has made inflammatory comments about women’s rights and abortions. In May, he tweeted, “How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?”

He is also under investigation by the Department of Justice on whether he violated federal sex trafficking laws with a 17-year-old girl in 2019. They are also investigating whether he paid the minor to travel with him. The investigation was launched after former tax collector Joel Greenberg, an associate of Gaetz, appeared before a judge and pleaded guilty to numerous charges.

The charges included sex trafficking of a child, wire fraud, identity theft, stalking, and conspiracy. He agreed to cooperate fully with the government and prosecution of other people involved in the case.
