Carl Hart,54, says he has snorted little amounts of heroin for 10 days and enjoys it. In his new book, “Drug Use for Grown-ups: Chasing Liberty in the Land of Fear”, he notes that it feels like its a perfect balance in his life despite experience mild symptoms of withdrawal within 12 to 16 hours. “There aren’t many things in life that I enjoy more than a few lines by the fireplace at the end of the day”, he writes.
“Like vacation, sex, and the arts, heroin is one of the tools that I use to maintain my work-life balance.”
The professor teaches neuroscience and psychology at Columbia University and also studies the effects of psychoactive drugs in humans so he can advocate for decriminalizing the use of recreational drugs.

Additionally, Hart mentions he likes experimenting with bath salts, MDMA, and methaphetamines due to its effects since it gives him feelings of “intense feelings of pleasure, gratitude and energy. When I’m rolling, I just want to breathe deeply and enjoy it. The simple act of breathing can be extremely pleasurable.” He hopes that President Biden will work with federal guidelines to regulate recreational use of drugs and licensing. Hart believes if people are going to use drugs, they should do it safely.
