Earlier reports stated that the snow will fall in Fort Collins, the Denver metro area, and along the Interstate 25 corridor this Tuesday into Wednesday. The temperature in Denver reached 101 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday, the latest day in the year that the Colorado city has ever topped 100 degrees. However, forecasters say Tuesday’s overnight low could drop all the way down to 28 degrees, more than 70 degrees colder than Saturday’s high, Daily Mail reports citing The National Weather service.
Videos shared online this morning showed heavy snowfall, with residents shocked at the sudden change in temperature. The news site notes that up to 6 inches of snowfall are possible in the Denver metro area.
The current record for the city is 66 degrees within 24 hours, which happened in 1872, the Daily Mail reports. It was also said that the snowfall is very early this year, with the average first snowfall in Denver happening on October 18. However, it was noted that the last time it snowed there in September was in 2014, but it was only a very small amount.
