Cheerleader Who Buried Baby In Backyard Released Early

The infamous Ohio cheerleader who was acquitted for the murder of her newborn has been released early from probation.

The Dayton Daily News reports that Brooke Skylar Richardson was initially given three years probation for burying her baby girl’s corpse in her parents’ backyard in May 2017. She only served 14 months of her probation and is working n ‘being a normal person again.’

The baby’s grandmother Tracy Johnson was against the release,

“You had the option of giving her up to six months in prison with time served … I don’t think three years probation is too much to ask,” Johnson said to the judge.

Richardson apologized in court,

“I am sorry for everything I have put everyone through … I know that doesn’t seem like a lot at all. I am very sorry and I hurt a lot. I just want to show that I can be a normal person again, that’s all.”

The judge responded by saying,

“There is no reason for me to invest the time and resources of my probation department in supervising you. It is an opportunity to demonstrate why the stated prison term of 12 months in prison should not be imposed.”

Richardson kept her pregnancy and the birth of a her daughter a secret. The then-18-year-old told police the baby was stillborn and that she buried her in the backyard prior to her prom.
