Chanel Iman has ruffled some feathers with the mother of her ex-husband Sterling Shepard, after sharing a photo of their two children along with the son of her new beau, Davon Godchaux. Back in January, it was revealed that Chanel and Sterling had split after six years together, with a source saying they wanted to “remain civil” for the sake of their daughters, Cali Clay and Cassie Snow. Sterling had actually filed the divorce papers back in June 2021, but news of their breakup only came about at the start of this year as fans also noticed Sterling had cleared out all of his photos with Chanel on social media.
And ever since going public with the New England Patriots NFL star in April, it appears as if the former couple aren’t exactly on cordial terms judging by remarks made by Sterling’s mother, Cheri Shepard, who took to the comment section of the post to remind Chanel that she was technically still a married woman.

In a comment that she has since deleted, Cheri wrote, “she is still married. This is ridiculous. Signed, concerned grandmother” When another fan wrote, “blended I love it,” Cheri had a few more words to share, as she penned, “not yet, she is still married, get divorced!….I’m their grandmother.”
Chanel and Davon first went public with their relationship when the latter posted his stunning girlfriend on his Instagram page as they attended Coachella together. The 27-year-old endearingly captioned the doting photo, writing, “Mines,” alongside a tongue and heart emoji.
When Sterling filed divorce papers last summer, he had mentioned that the two were calling it quits over irreconcilable differences that had already “existed for at least six months” prior to the legal proceedings, adding that there was “no reasonable prospect of reconciliation” between the pair.

The Oklahoma native asked to receive joint legal custody of their daughters and requested that his home be his daughters’ primary residence. Interestingly enough, he also called for Chanel to have “supervised parenting time” with their girls, which certainly raised eyebrows with fans.

Sterling had popped the question to Chanel back in December 2017, two years after their relationship began. After the proposal, the model had taken to Instagram to gush about her excitement about becoming Sterling’s wife. “A night full of tears or happiness,” she expressed to her follower. “I’m beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with @Sterl_Shep3 you are my soulmate, my best friend, my everything! Can’t wait to be your Mrs.”
They tied the knot in March 2018 at the Beverly Hills Hotels in Los Angeles alongside their closest friends and family members.
