That’s right! We caught the stars as they strutted down the red carpet and shared their excitement over Missy Elliott finally receiving the Video Vanguard award in celebration of her decades long, genre-bending career, making her the first female emcee to be awarded the distinction!

On Friday, June 21, 2019 we started BET Weekend off right by rocking with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars at the 2nd annual BET HER Awards! We gathered together to celebrate and honor black women who have not only been killing the game but also making a big difference in the world.

Before heading inside to begin the awards ceremony hosted by Shaun Robinson, we got to speak with a few of the honorees and attendees on the black carpet. Erin Teague, this year’s Tech Maven Award recipient, shared what it’s like to be a woman dominating in her field and also shared some helpful advice to other women. Beloved actress Storm Reid, who received Rising Star Award also did the same while Lala Milan blessed us with some gems.
