50 Cent Says Gayle King Once Confronted Him For ‘Talking S–t’ About Her BFF Oprah Winfrey
In an excerpt from 50 Cent’s upcoming autobiography “Hustle Harder, the rapper details the time Gayle King confronted him at a black-tie soiree for publicly slamming her best friend Oprah Winfrey.
According to Page Six, 50 claims the CBS This Morning host approached him at a gala for Bette Midler’s charity and asked him to explain his beef with the TV host: “Gayle is the real deal — a very sophisticated, secure, and smart lady,” he wrote in his book. “She’s never afraid of a situation… so she marched right up to me and basically said, ‘Why you talkin’ s–t about my girl?'”

Apparently, King was referring to 50’s public comments he made about Winfrey in the past including the time he said, “Oprah’s audience is my audience’s parents, so I could care less about Oprah or her show,” per the Hollywood Reporter. From there, he told King he assumed Winfrey wasn’t feeling him as he had heard her criticize his brand and music as misogynistic. Instead of brushing it off, 50 said he decided to use the feud as a “strategy” for the public to keep talking about him. “Listen, I’d love to be Oprah’s friend,” he claimed he told King. “But if we can’t be friends, could we at least be enemies?” he said according to Page Six.
According to the news site, Oprah and King respected his understanding of strategy, and he went on to appear on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” in 2012. However, that didn’t last that long.
Their “beef” sparked back up after 50 Cent publicly trashed King over her “CBS This Morning” segment on Kobe Bryant, where 50 and rapper Snoop Dogg claimed it unfairly dredged up Bryant’s sexual-assault case after his death, Page Six reports. However, both King and CBS said the clip shown of the interview was taken out of context.
As the news site notes, 50’s forthcoming book, Hustle Harder Hustle Smarter, is due out on April 28th.
