Celebrities And Fans Continue To #PrayForNayaRivera After Star Goes Missing While Boating With Son

As we previously reported, actress Naya Rivera, best known for her role on “Glee,” has gone missing after going boating with her 4-year-old son at Lake Piru in Ventura County on Wednesday evening.

Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Buschow said at a news conference that about three hours after they left the dock, another boater discovered a boat drifting with the child asleep onboard. The child said they went swimming but the mother didn’t get back on the boat, Buschow said. He added that the child had on a life vest and an adult life vest was found on the boat. Authorities were notified and they began searching from air and with a dive team. However, they suspended their search due to nightfall.

While rescuers will resume their search this Thursday morning, fans, celebrities and close friends of Naya have been praying for a safe return. Actress Demi Lovato wrote on her Instagram story, “Please pray for @nayarivera to be found safe and sound 🙏🏼” Glee star Heather Morris also posted to Instagram and said, “We need all the prayers we can to bring our Naya back home to us. We need your love and light.” Fans notice that rapper Big Sean, Naya’s ex-boyfriend even liked a few tweets, also praying for her to safely return.

Ventura Police confirmed that the search will continue this Thursday after tweeting, “The missing person at Lake Puru has been identified as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles. SAR operation will continue at first light. @VCAirUnit @fillmoresheriff @Cal_OES.”

George Floyd Case: Defense Team For Fired Minneapolis Officer Thomas Lane Files For Charges To Be Dismissed

According to CBS Minnesota, the defense team for fired Minneapolis police officer Thomas Lane, who is charged in George Floyd’s death, is asking the court to dismiss the charges against him.

As we previously reported, Lane, 37, was one of the four officers that responded to the call about the alleged use of a counterfeit $20 bill on Memorial Day in south Minneapolis. As they arrived at the scene, the officers handcuffed Floyd, 46, then ended up restraining him on the street next to a squad car, where Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes. Lane, has been charged with aiding and abetting both second-degree unintentional murder and second-degree manslaughter along with his two fellow officers. Chauvin was charged with second- and third-degree murder, and third-degree manslaughter.

Lane’s attorney, Earl Gray, filed a motion Tuesday to dismiss the charges against Lane as well as documents supporting the motion. It reportedly includes transcripts Lane’s body camera and of an interview with another officer at the scene and pictures from inside the vehicle, Floyd was in at the time, Fox 9 reports. Gary argues that Lane “did not intentionally aid, advise, hir, counsel, or conspire with (Derek) Chauvin or otherwise procure Chauvin to commit second-degree murder.” The motion also says there is a lack of evidence to establish probable cause for the charges. 

His attorney claims that Lane did not know that third-degree assault was being committed and he didn’t intend for his actions of holding Floyd’s legs and feet would further a crime, CBS reports.

Christian Cooper Refuses To Cooperate In ‘Central Park Karen’ Investigation: ‘She’s Already Paid A Steep Price’

Christian Cooper, the black birdwatcher who had the police called on him by a white woman in New York’s Central Park has refused to cooperate with the Manhattan District Attorney’s investigation into the incident, according to The Daily Mail.

As we previously reported, Amy Cooper, 41 — who has no relation to Christian — was branded ‘Central Park Karen’ back in May after she was caught on cell phone video lying to cops that she was being threatened by Christian Cooper, 57, after he politely asked her to put her dog on a leash, which is required in the park.

Although Amy was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree on Monday, Christian does not want her to be punished. The news site reports that he has not cooperated with the prosecutor’s investigation, and says he believes the woman has suffered enough after having her reputation destroyed and being fired from her job. While speaking with The New York Times, Christian explained that “on the one hand, she’s already paid a steep price,” adding, “That’s not enough of a deterrent to others? Bringing her more misery just seems like piling on. If the DA feels the need to pursue charges, he should pursue charges. But he can do that without me,” Cooper said. 

Meanwhile, Cyrus Vance, the Manhattan district attorney is committed to handling this situation accordingly. Vance said Monday: “Our office initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree. “We are strongly committed to holding perpetrators of this conduct accountable.”

Kanye West Says He No Longer Supports Donald Trump While Discussing His Plans To Run For President In New Interview

Last week, Kanye West announced that he is running for President in the upcoming 2020 elections. At the time, the rapper and fashion designer did not provide any further details on his plans. However, he’s now speaking out to share them.

In a new piece, which Forbes Magazine described as “four rambling hours of interviews,” Kanye says that he’s running for President not as a Republican or Democrat but under a new banner—the Birthday Party, saying “because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.” However, he admitted that  “I would run as a Republican if Trump wasn’t there,” he said. “I will run as an independent if Trump is there.” The 43-year-old also shared that he’s been receiving guidance from his good friend Elon Musk and already chose his running mate: Michelle Tidball, an obscure preacher from Wyoming.

Now, as many of us know, Kanye has still not filed anything to officially declare his candidacy outside of his recent tweet. But, Kanye still believes he has a good chance at winning: “I’m speaking with experts, I’m going to speak with Jared Kushner, the White House, with Biden.” During the conversation, Kanye briefly spoke President Donald Trump, revealing that he no longer supports him: “I am taking the red hat off, with this interview.” Kanye didn’t go into much detail about his former good friend but says, “It looks like one big mess to me,” while speaking about him visiting the bunker in the White House amid protests. “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.”

However, rather than dissing Trump, Kanye did share why he initially supported him: “One of the main reasons I wore the red hat as a protest to the segregation of votes in the Black community. Also, other than the fact that I like Trump hotels and the saxophones in the lobby.” He added, “Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation.”

Kanye then shared what made decide it was time to run for President:

“It’s when I was being offered the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Awards at MTV. I remember being at my mom’s house, my mother-in-law, because my house was being worked on, she calls me ‘son’ and I call her ‘mom,’ I was in the shower thinking, I write raps in the shower. It hit me to say, ‘you’re going to run for president’ and I started laughing hysterically, I was like this is the best, I’m going to go out there and they’re going to think I’m going to do these songs and do this for entertainment, how rigged awards shows are, and then say I’m president. And I just laughed in the shower, I don’t know for how long, but that’s the moment it hit me.”

During the interview with the Magazine, Kanye talked about many other things including his foreign policy, which he hasn’t developed yet — his take on abortion and also talked about the coronavirus which he claims he contracted in late February. Check out his full interview here.

Charlamagne Tha God To Host A Weekly Talk Show On Comedy Central!

Charlamagne Tha God’s bag just keeps getting bigger! The host of the popular radio show “The Breakfast Club” is getting his own talk show on Comedy Central. That’s right!

While details are still being worked out, Deadline reports that the new series will be a weekly half-hour that will focus on current events and cultural issues. The ViacomCBS cable network is set to launch the show later this year, possibly ahead of the U.S. Presidential Election in November, according to the site citing New York Magazine.

President of Entertainment and Youth Group at ViacomCBS, Chris McCarthy, released a statement to NY Mag, saying, “Charlamagne’s voice is very right for today. It’s fresh and real and resonating in a way that very few can do.”

The star who’s real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, was previously a cast member of MTV2’s The Guy Code, and even hosted Charlamagne & Friends and Uncommon Sense for the network. He also spoke with the magazine and said,

“Giving me a TV deal, almost ten years ago, didn’t really make any sense,” Charlamagne told the magazine. “I was a radio guy. It’s easy to say, ‘You know what? I think Charlamagne Tha God needs a talk show’ now. But almost ten years ago for him [Chris McCarthy] to have that vision, that did a lot for me. A lot of my success right now is because of those looks that I got on MTV2 and Viacom at the time.”

Although there’s not an exact date for when it will premiere, let’s take this time to congratulate Charlamagne Tha God!
