Cardi B has joined the growing list of megastars entering the hair care industry and let’s just say, she’s not playing when it comes to her brand.
The Bronx rapper, who has dedicated years of hard work and research, recently sat down with the well-respected Emma Grede to discuss her journey in developing products specifically tailored to hair growth, or, as she calls it, “booty-length” hair.
While discussing what her product line will offer, Grede asked Cardi whether she feels there’s a lot of competition, given the number of celebrities with hair care lines, including Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Beyoncé. As always, Cardi gave a direct and unfiltered response:
“It’s not about competition, it’s about what’s gonna have your hair growing. Like, I use Cécred and it’s VERY fcking GOOD!”
Cardi says her main focus is getting strong, positive reviews to ensure her products truly work for her fans.
More on Cardi B’s Hair Care Line
In a new cover story for WWD, Cardi opened up about her hair journey before the flawless installs and luxury wigs—back when she was just a young girl in the Bronx trying to understand hair that didn’t match what she viewed as “perfect.”
“So I’m not even gonna lie, when I was younger, I really used to hate my hair,” she said. “My cousins, they had really long hair — like the Disney princesses, they had really long hair,” she said.
Meanwhile, her own experience felt like a constant struggle to fit in. Cardi went on to explain, “Not only was my hair really coarse, but it was really short,” Cardi explained. “I used to really hate my hair texture, because when I put gel on my hair, instead of being flat, it just kind of crinkles.”
That frustration pushed her toward wanting straighter, more “manageable” hair at a young age.
After experimenting with everything from perms and bleach to box dyes—and eventually doing a big chop—Cardi found her way back to healthy hair through consistency and the homemade treatments she grew up with.
That journey ultimately led to something even bigger: her new hair care brand, Grow-Good Beauty.
“I made Grow-Good because I really put the work in on my hair,” Cardi said.
“I was doing my own masks in my kitchen, using what I already knew from my family’s recipes and what I learned from my own research. I really took my time to get my hair looking healthy again after years of damage. And guess what? It worked. Now I wanna share my hair journey with everybody.”
Grow-Good Beauty officially launches on April 15, 2026.
