Billboard announced the big news on Monday, Aug. 17. As the music site reported, the collab launches as Cardi B’s fourth leader on the list and Megan Thee Stallion’s second! As exciting as this is for the girls, it comes as no surprise to fans since the song performed extremely well as soon as it dropped on Aug. 7. Billboard notes that the record’s first-week streams were 93 million “which is the greatest ever for a song in its first week of release,” adding that “It surpasses the haul of 85.3 million for Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” in its first week of availability (Feb. 2, 2019).”

The song has been the most talked about track for the last two weeks. It even had conservatives fighting to ban the artists over their raunchy lyrics. However, Cardi took the moment in as “iconic.” “WAP” is also the first female rap collaboration in history to debut at #1 on the Hot 100 (@iamcardib & @theestallion), according to Chart Data.

Bardi Gang and the Hot Girls have quickly taken to a social media to celebrate the ladies all over Twitter and have even started the hashtag #WAPONTOP which is now trending!
