Caitlyn Jenner Says Trans Girls Born As Boys Shouldn’t Compete In All-Female Sports: It’s About “Fairness”
Caitlyn Jenner who is running for governor of California weighed in on her first big political issue.
Earlier this week, Florida Legislature passed a bill banning transgender women and girls from female sports teams. While speaking with TMZ, Jenner gave her thoughts, saying she actually doesn’t support trans girls born as boys participating in all-female school sports because she believes in fairness.
Caitlyn, who of course, is a trans woman herself AND a former Olympic champion told the news site that she’s all about protecting the integrity of girls’ sports. As TMZ notes, around 34 states are considering legislation that would ban trans athletes from competing based on their gender identity … and at least five have already turned the bills into law.
Transgender female athletes would be limited to playing coed sports or on teams with male athletes under the legislation, which restricts female teams to individuals identified as female on their birth certificate. If passed, The it would to high school and college sports sponsored by public schools, including intramural and club teams.
