Since settling her conservatorship case with her father, Jamie Spears, it was reported that Britney Spears was “going broke,” but sources now update that she is not “going broke,” but is reportedly “blowing through” her $60 million estate.

On June 23, 2021, Britney Spears called into her conservatorship court hearing and revealed all of the alleged abuse she endured during her 13-year conservatorship run by her father, Jamie Spears, and his associates. Less than five months later, a Los Angeles judge terminated her conservatorship on November 12, 2021, freeing the Grammy Award-winning artist and granting her sole access to her $60 million estate for the first time since February 1, 2008.

Almost three years after regaining her freedom, sources now tell Page Six that the 42-year-old “Toxic” singer is blowing through her finances. One source said, “She has no concept of money. For over a decade, other people were in charge of her bank accounts, and every purchase had to be reported to the court — even if it was just a pack of gum. But now, she’s on her own.”

Another source told the publication that Britney Spears’ inner circle is “in a precarious position,” claiming they do not want to “rock the boat and make her feel like she is in a conservatorship again” by raising concerns and flags about her latest spending habits. One source noted, “It’s tricky. No one wants to be Jamie 2.0.”

The new reports about Britney Spears’ alleged spending arrive knowing she has not released any new albums since August 2016 and knowing she hasn’t gone on any tours since October 2018. Additionally, Britney Spears has no interest in even making more music. In January 2024, she took to her Instagram and affirmed that she “will never return to the music industry,” on a count of all of the trauma she has endured during her decades-long career.

Despite not wanting to return to the music industry, Britney Spears has released two major projects since the end of her conservatorship. In August 2022, she released “Hold Me Closer,” featuring Elton John, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Then, in October 2023, Britney Spears released her explosive memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ which quickly became a New York Times bestseller.

According to sources, Britney Spears is “at the point of recoupment” with her $15 million publishing deal and earns “very significant” royalties for her memoir, which has sold more than 2 million copies in the United States alone. She reportedly earns 25% of the net profits.

In response to the reports claiming Britney Spears is “going broke,” a source insisted, “She’s not broke. But she definitely could benefit from being more careful with her cash.” It’s also noted that the singer has mostly been dropping thousands on her frequent vacations to Maui, Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

She reportedly dropped “hundreds of thousands of dollars” last year on a single trip to French Polynesia, where she dropped $23,400 per night at the luxurious Brando resort. A second source said, “Between flying private and booking five-star villas, it can get costly… fast.”

A third source continued to shut down TMZ’s “grossly exaggerated” claims and added, “She is not going broke but should keep an eye on private jets,” which can cost anywhere between $3,000 and $185,000 an hour.
