As reported by multiple outlets, the suit alleges “numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentations” and seeks a $250 million judgment and a ban on members of the Trump family leading a company in the state. Now, Socialites, get into this: the case docket lists the defendants as Trump as well as his three adult children; Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, and former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, longtime Trump Organization executive Jeffrey McConney, The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, The Trump Organization, Inc., and other businesses, Rolling Stone reports.

“These acts of fraud and misrepresentation were similar in nature, were committed by upper management at the Trump Organization as part of a common endeavor for each annual Statement, and were approved at the highest levels of the Trump Organization — including by Mr. Trump himself,” the lawsuit states.

Attorney General Letitia James who has been conducting a civil investigation of former President Donald Trump’s company, announced the big news in a press confrence moments ago. Here’s what she had to say:

“I’m announcing that today we’re filing a lawsuit against Donald Trump for violating the law as part of his efforts to generate profits for himself, his family, his company,” James said, as she announced the action at a press conference in Manhattan Wednesday morning. “The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us.”
“The pattern of fraud that was used by Mr. Trump and the Trump organization was astounding,” James added.

Trump and his children Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump accusing the family of fraudulent statements of financial conditions to obtain millions in economic benefits. Responding to Wednesday’s announcement, Trump attorney Alina Habba said in a statement to CNN: “Today’s filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law — rather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda. It is abundantly clear that the Attorney General’s Office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place.”

This new suit from the New York attorney general came as the former president’s attorneys were fighting in federal court to block the Justice Department’s effort to investigate the discovery of highly sensitive national security records at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Trump, who’s usually active on social media and his playroom Truth Social has yet to release his own statement regarding this latest lawsuit.
