A Mexican boy dropped off his beloved puppy at a local animal shelter and left a heartbreaking note. The note explains that the boy needed to save the dog from his abusive father.
According to the Daily Mail, the 12-year-old boy and his mother dropped off the puppy at Refugio Xollin in Michoacan on February 13. He left a sobering note for the shelter explaining why he could no longer take care of the dog:

‘My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him. But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him. I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me.’

The shelter shared the boy’s note along with a picture of the puppy on Facebook and it quickly went viral. Over 300 people have offered to adopt the dog who was named Rene by the shelter. Rene has been taken to the vet, dewormed, and he is ready to be adopted for a loving family.
