Former President Barack Obama is again trolling Donald Trump and his administration, this time over their mobilized response to his recent, viral Cheesecake Factory joke.
As we previously shared, Obama was at a midterm election rally for Democrats in Ohio. During the October 24 rally, Obama took a jab at Trump’s White House renovations. He began:
“So, when you go through the tally of promises, things have not worked out the way we might have expected. Although, I must say, I did expect it. And let’s be honest, does anybody really think this guy in the White House right now is spending all that time thinking about these issues?”
The crowd shouted back, “No!.” Obama continued, “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV. The guy’s building a ballroom that’s bigger than the White House. [He’s] paved over the Rose Garden, put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn.” Obama continued to take a jab at Trump’s love of gold. He said:
“And there’s gold everywhere. What’s up with the gold? Everything. ‘More gold.’ He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere. So, he’s clearly not focused on lowering prices for you.”
On Wednesday (October 28), Obama appeared at another midterms election rally for Democrats, this time in Morrow, Georgia. During the event, Obama addressed the Trump administration rallying together to fire back at his Cheesecake Factory line. He said:
“The president wasn’t even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn’t bother him. But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory comments. He took great umbrage. This was the really crazy part. They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke. The White House even called the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the man who is in charge of the economy. The person who’s supposed to be figuring out how to make your life more affordable. The guy who’s supposed to be figuring out how to lower inflation. And reduce interest rates. They told him he should hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory.”
