Donald Trump Condemns Bad Bunny As Super Bowl Halftime Show Headliner
On September 28, 2025, JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, the NFL, and Apple Music announced Latin superstar Bad Bunny as headliner for the February 8, 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
The announcement arrived as the Puerto Rican Grammy-winning rapper and singer, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, insisted on avoiding touring in the United States out of fear that Donald Trump
’s administration would target his fans with its aggressive deportation efforts.
Despite Trump condemning Bad Bunny as headliner, the Reggaetonero turned Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California, into a Puerto Rican oasis and shared an entertaining history lesson about the U.S. Territory. He did so with the help from performers Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, and cameos from Cardi B, Karol G, Pedro Pascal, Jessica Alba, and many more.
Nielsen reported that Bad Bunny’s historic Super Bowl Halftime Show averaged 128.2 million viewers in the United States — making it the fourth-highest viewed. Bad Bunny’s show trails behind Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance (133.5M), Michael Jackson’s 1993 performance (133.4M), and Usher’s 2024 performance (129.3M).
However, Roc Nation later reported that with the global viewership total, Bad Bunny ended up with the most-watched Halftime Show performance of all time: 4.157 billion viewers in 24 hours.
