Azealia Banks is currently trending on Twitter after she shared her thoughts on the latest online feud between fellow rappers, Nicki Minaj and Latto.
In case you missed it, Nicki initially called out the Grammys for moving her song “Super Freaky Girl” from the Rap to Pop category. She tweeted, “I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY,” she said late Thursday, in response to her submission being moved out of her chosen category. “If SFG (‘Super Freaky Girl’) has 2B moved out RAP then so does Big Energy!” she added, referring to the Latto song. “ANY1 who says diff is simply a Nicki hater or a troll.” Nicki then followed up with a 17-minute video on Instagram further expanding on her position. “If you can’t tell by now that there is a concerted effort to give newer artists things that they really don’t deserve over people who have been deserving for many years, then you’re not paying attention. And by the way, this is not to say any song is bad or any female rapper is bad. I always say this: Any rapper, female or male, that wins a Grammy, you should be f*cking proud of yourself. But why is the goalpost only ever moved when it’s Nicki? Well, I’ll tell you why. They don’t want the people that they have in the industry to go up against me.”
From there, Latto, 23, took to her account to question why she was brought into the conversation after Nicki mentioned her song. “Damn I can’t win for losing…all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate,” she tweeted. All hell broke loose after that, with both Nicki and Latto clapping back at each other, with the Big Energy artist referring to her as “old” and Nicki hitting back by calling her a “Karen.” Of course, Azealia Banks is now chiming in, and she’s directly calling Nicki out for her behavior. She said in a series of Instagram posts, she said:
“The barbs need to petition to get Nicki
Minaj some rehab and mental health
services through the Grammys musiccares
program. It’s becoming painstakingly clear
that this woman needs serious help. Because this level of anger is not normal at all.. It’s getting scary watching her spiral like this with a child in tow…. Like, imagine how lonely and confused her kid feels hearing her scream and rage 24/7. There’s no way he’s getting the attention/ love he needs from her when she is this consumed with anger I feel really really bad for the kid. Clearly other women are more important to her than he is.”
As she continued to go on, she ended off by calling Nicki a “cry baby.”
“boring a** crybaby. Shut up. Go on love
and hip hop with all this weak For f—s sake.”
Nicki has yet to respond to Banks, who has called her out serval times in the past.
