While demanding for more answers, Ashlee Jenae‘s parents and their spouses admit it’s “very odd” that her fiancé Joe McCann waited 11 hours to call them after finding her unconscious, and then went M.I.A.
As we previously shared, Jenae — of South Jersey and real name Ashly Robinson — went to Zanzibar, Tanzania with McCann for her 31st birthday, on April 5. Two days earlier, McCann proposed to her. But by April 9, her fiancé claimed to have found her unconscious in her room at the Zuri Zanzibar.
Before this, the two got into a dispute and hotel staff separated them into their own villas, according to authorities. Police said the couple had a “misunderstanding” that resulted in hotel staffers stepping in and placing them into different rooms. Now, Jenae’s family wants to review surveillance footage from the luxury resort to help put the pieces together.

Additionally, Jenae’s parents — mother Yolanda Denise Endres and father Harry Robinson — told several media outlets that the last time they heard from their daughter was after her proposal. They said she called to tell them she and McCann had an argument and hotel staff placed them in separate rooms. The next call they received was from her fiancé.
The family said McCann called them the next day and told them Jenae “did something to herself and was being taken to the hospital.” He also told the family, “She was stable” and “what happened had been 11 hours prior.” The following call the family received was from the hotel, telling Jenae’s parents that she had died. The parents said her fiancé never called to tell them and has been unreachable ever since.

While speaking with TMZ’s Charlie Neff, Jenae’s parents and their respective partners continued to speak on their daughter’s death while demanding for more answers. During the interview, Jenae’s father said the family found it “very odd” that McCann didn’t call them until about 11 hours after the incident in her room. After that call, the family said he went M.I.A. and hasn’t communicated with them since.
As previously shared, local news reports indicate that police suspect Jenae died by suicide, but the family doesn’t believe that. WPVI-TV reportedly obtained the hospital’s medical record in Jenae’s incident. Reportedly, officials found an unidentified mark around her neck. The report also reportedly says, “According to the husband, he found she hanged herself on the door.”
WPVI obtained a second hospital’s report, which claimed Jenae’s “immediate cause of death” as cerebral hypoxia by strangulation and suffocation. Despite the medical reports, Jenae’s family said, “She’s never done anything that would ever ever lead me to believe that she would do something to harm herself like that. She was happy.”
In addition to McCann going M.I.A. following Jenae’s death, her family said they have contacted police, the consulate, and the embassy, all to no avail.
