Alec Baldwin will resume filming the upcoming motion picture, “Rust,” which many assumed would be scrapped following the death of its cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, in October 2021. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the actor expressed that he was “grateful” to have reached a settlement with the family of Hutchins, which has allowed the production crew to gear up for filming the remaining scenes of the flick.

As previously reported, filming was halted as an investigation into the death of Hutchins was being performed. As most will recall, Baldwin was rehearsing with what he assumed was a prop gun when he accidentally discharged the trigger of the weapon on the film’s set in Mexico, sparking worldwide outrage, with many wondering why a loaded gun was given to Baldwin, to begin with.

A lawsuit was filed against Baldwin and several others production crew members, which accused them of reckless behavior for the sake of saving costs. But in an update issued by the 42-year-old, the matter has since been settled and production is now expected to resume after all. “We are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case filed on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins,” Baldwin said.

“Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.”

Hutchins’ widower, Matthew, followed up with a statement of his own, acknowledging, “We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.”

Interestingly enough, Matthew will now serve as one of the executive producers on the movie, per Deadline, which reports that production will officially resume in early 2023. All cast members, including Baldwin, are expected to reprise their roles, as well as the majority of the crew who had worked on the film prior to the tragic accident.

It’s still unclear when “Rust” is expected to hit cinemas at this time, but the better question people are bound to ask is… who will actually be watching this film when it’s released? Socialites, are you keen on seeing the flick?
