Former Vice President Kamala Harris says she “hasn’t decided” whether or not she will do another run for president in 2028. Instead, Harris tells Americans, “2028 doesn’t matter if we don’t do 2026 right and win.” On January 21, 2019, Harris formally launched her first-ever primary campaign.
However, she withdrew from the race on December 3, 2019, citing lack of funds. Joe Biden later chose her as his Vice-Presidential running mate. As Vice President, Harris ran for a second time as of July 21, 2024.
Her second primary campaign came immediately after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Harris secured the official Democratic nomination in August 2024. However, she ultimately lost the general election to Donald Trump. He was later sworn into office for a second term on January 20, 2025.

As the 2026 midterm elections loom, Kamala Harris — along with other former Democratic office holders — continue on a press run to ensure Americans vote blue. While speaking with Keke Palmer, Harris opened up about her thoughts on another run for president.
During the Tuesday (October 13) episode of ‘Baby, This is Keke Palmer,’ Harris told Palmer that she “hasn’t decided” yet if she is going to run. She also disclaimed that the 2028 elections “don’t matter” unless Americans vote “right” and help the Democrats “win” in the 2026 midterms.
