An Uber Eats driver was shot in the buttocks while delivering food outside a customer’s apartment complex. Authorities reported that the driver drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

According to Local 10, the incident occurred in Miami-Dade County on Monday after 3:00 a.m. An hour before the shooting, the driver delivered food to a woman at Pearl Dadeland Apartments and spoke with her. He returned to the complex around 3:25 a.m., allegedly trying to obtain her phone number, but it didn’t work out. As the driver was walking back to his car, the woman’s boyfriend, Khuslen Saruultuya, 33, pulled up.

“The victim complied and lay flat on the ground (and Saruultuya) fired one round, which grazed the victim on his right buttock,” the arresting report explained.

Boyfriend Allegedly Attacked Driver at Gunpoint

Saruultuya reportedly forced the driver to the ground at gunpoint, struck him with the gun, and then shot him. Saruultuya and the woman fled the scene, but police later arrested him at his apartment. During the arrest, deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office discovered over $11,000 in cash and drugs.

Suspect Held Without Bond

A judge ordered Saruultuya to be held without bond. He faces charges of attempted felony murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. His separate drug case includes drug trafficking charges along with possession with intent.
