Nick Cannon Gets Candid: Why He Doesn’t Want His Daughters Dating “Guys Like Him”
Nick Cannon is keeping it real when it comes to parenting and personal growth. While promoting his new late-night show, Nick Cannon @ Night, he sat down with Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi and dropped some heartfelt (and funny) gems about raising daughters and the lessons he’s learned.
In the interview, Cannon didn’t hold back when talking about how becoming a father—especially to five daughters—has completely shifted his perspective.
“The goal here is to reinvent the late-night experience and make it more interactive,” Nick told Abdi. “For years, late night has felt pretty dictative, and I wanted to make it a more experiential vibe,” he explained. “It’s a cool space to talk about love, sex, and relationships.”
When Abdi asked about who would be giving out advice on the show, Cannon made it clear he’s not just hosting—he’s pouring his own life experience into the content. “You’re bringing in your life and experiences, so I gotta ask you, with the dating world now, where do you think things are?” she asked.
Cannon cracked, “I think everybody is about to start dating robots. We are definitely in the Total Recall, Terminator era.”
But when Abdi followed up and asked what made him change his ways, Cannon kept it a buck:
“Fatherhood, more than anything,” he said. “When you have five daughters, you realize you gotta be true and honest. I can’t keep living the same way and expect my daughters to learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad.”
