Just four months after her hospitalization, Madonna is giving fans an update on her health and noting how much of a “f***ing miracle” it is that she’s alive after “people predicted [she] wouldn’t make it.”
As we previously shared over the summer, the 65-year-old Queen of Pop experienced a health scare that sent her to the intensive care unit in late June. At the time Page Six reported that Madonna was found unresponsive in New York City and rushed to a local hospital on June 24.
The news outlet said the “Material Girl” singer was intubated for at least one night before having the tube removed. She was then listed as alert and recovering. With her throughout the whole ordeal was her daughter Lourdes Leon. Meanwhile, her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, told Instagram on June 28 that she had “developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU.”
A source also told the outlet that that same day Madonna had been “out of the ICU,” adding to Oseary’s post that claimed she was “still under medical care with a full recovery expected.”

Weeks following her release from the hospital, Madonna posted to her Instagram on July 10, thanking her fans for praying for her. She said that she had been suffering from a low-grade fever for a month, but ignored the symptoms as she continued with 12-hour days of rehearsal for her big ‘Celebration‘ tour. Ultimately, she collapsed and spent several days in the hospital.
Madonna wrote, “Thank you all for the positive energy, prayers, and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.” She continued to recall her initial thoughts upon waking up in the hospital.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets to my tour. Tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone. My focus is now my health and getting stronger and I can assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can,” she said.
She continued to note that her major focus was now her “health and getting stronger” so that she could get back on the road as soon as possible. At the time, it had been reported that the North American leg of her ‘Celebration‘ tour would be rescheduled, with European dates picking up in October.

A few months since Madonna’s last health update, she has since embarked on the European leg of her ‘Celebration‘ tour, and at her recent stop in Antwerp, Belgium, she gave another update, claiming “it’s a miracle” she’s still alive.
Per a fan video, she told the crowd, “Less than four months ago, I was in a hospital and I was unconscious, and people were thinking, predicting that I might not make it. So, it’s a f***ing miracle that I’m here rigreht now.” She also told fans that she believed her mom, who passed from breast cancer at age 30, was looking after her. Holding back tears, she said, “My mother, God bless her, she must be watching over me. She said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time to go.'”
Madonna continued to reflect on her mother’s last days and “how lonely she must have felt laying in a hospital, knowing that she wasn’t going to live.” She said, “I was given another chance. So I’m very grateful for that.” She also admitted that although she kicked off her tour in London on October 14, she was not 100 percent recovered, and still isn’t.
She said, “I must tell you, I don’t feel really well right now, but I can’t complain ’cause I’m alive. Thank God for my children and all of you for your love and support, I really appreciate it.”
