A University of Alabama basketball player named Darius Miles has been charged with capital murder, along with a second man.

It is reported that 21 year old Miles was busted along wide 20 year old Michael Lynn Davis after allegedly opening fire at a car, killing a 23 year old woman early Sunday morning (January 15).
The shooting happened in an area near the Tuscaloosa campus known as “The Strip” around 1:45 a.m. One of the passengers in the car was Jamea Jonae Harris.
Police say the woman was struck by a bullet and died at the scene. Police say one of the suspects were also struck by a bullet and injured when someone in the other car opened fire.
According to investigators, they believe the two parties might have gotten into a minor disagreement along “The Strip” before the bullets began flying.
Miles, who is originally from Washington D.C., is a junior at the University and played forward for the school’s basketball team. At the time of the shooting,
Miles was had reportedly been benched as of the team’s game against Louisiana State University on Saturday, which was due to an ankle injury.

Since news of his murder arrest, the University has kicked Miles off of the team officially.
In a statement, the school said, “We were made aware of the recent charge against student-athlete Darius Miles; he has been removed from campus and is no longer a member of the Alabama men’s basketball team.”
