Nearly six years after the world lost a real life superhero, the drama surrounding Chadwick Boseman’s legacy is hitting a fresh breaking point.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the late Black Panther star’s brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, have officially beelined to a Los Angeles courtroom, petitioning a judge to strip Chadwick’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, of her position as the estate administrator.

Why? Well, the brothers point to the alleged financial mismanagement, claiming that things aren’t being handled right when it comes to preserving the actor’s lingering estate.
Now, this is a drastic shift for a family that initially seemed united in grief following Chadwick’s tragic passing from colon cancer at just 43 years old back in August 2020. Because Chadwick died intestate, meaning without leaving behind an official legal will, the court previously appointed Simone as the estate’s administrator to navigate the messy probate process.
While the family previously agreed to evenly split the net remaining millions between Simone and Chadwick’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn, new filings show his brothers are convinced that the business side of things has gone completely left.
According to court documents, Derrick and Kevin are demanding an immediate accounting of the estate and asking the court to appoint an independent party or allow new oversight to step in.
Kevin and Derrick are petitioning the court to hold Taylor in contempt for allegedly breaching a 2022 court order. They want her forced to provide a full accounting and distribute the remaining estate assets within 30 days, alongside a request to permanently strip her of her role as administrator and name attorney Jason Rubin to take over.
Simone, who secretly wed the beloved star in the months leading up to his death after years of private dating, has maintained that her decisions have always honored Chadwick’s vision and family.
During past court proceedings, she won praise for splitting proceeds with his parents and covering heavy funeral expenses out of pocket. However, with millions in post humous residuals, licensing deals, and likeness rights still rolling in, the Boseman brothers insist that good intentions aren’t enough when the numbers aren’t lining up.
A hearing date is expected to be set in the coming weeks, where a judge will decide if Simone keeps the crown over the estate or if a new administrator gets called up to take the reins.
