The slain woman, identified as Asia Womack, was gunned down on Monday evening (October 3) after playing some hoops with her male friend, who has been identified as 31-year-old Cameron Hogg.

The incident occurred at T.G. Terry Park near the victim’s home. Her mother, Andrea Womack, told Fox 4 News, “This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man, she’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.”

The victim’s mother also says that the two friends spit a little trash talk towards each other during the game. However, family members say that is no excuse for how things ended.

The victim’s aunt, Juanita Smith told NBC DFW that the family is “taking it kind of hard because it was senseless.” Smith added, “I just don’t understand why you kill somebody over a basketball game.”

Before getting emotional and breaking down in tears, the victim’s sister, Alia Womack, also told NBC DFW, “[It’s] hard because it’s my only sister.”

Andrea Womack went on to say that after her daughter beat Hogg in the basketball pickup game, he took his kids and brother home, before returning to the park to shoot the young woman.

The young victim was left with several gunshot wounds. She was eventually found lying on a sidewalk, was rushed to the hospital, and was later pronounced dead.

As mentioned, Hogg is still on the run. Speaking with Fox 4 News, police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said, “Detectives are still working the case. They’ve been working it since Monday night trying to find justice for Miss Womack.”

In the meantime, Crime Stoppers has since announced that they are offering $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest.

The victim’s mother, Andrea Womack, has also pleaded with the public. She said, “If you know where he is, where his whereabouts are, please turn him in. Help the family out. We’re hurting.

The family’s pastor, John Delley of the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, also spoke with news outlets. He said, “This is so senseless. You become embarrassed basically because a female beat you in basketball. My prayer is that justice be served, that he is found or that he will give up or turn himself in.”
