Federal Safety Officials To Announce Probable Cause Of Kobe Bryant Helicopter Crash This Week
A year has passed since the tragic loss of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his beloved daughter Gianna and seven other precious lives. The cause of the devastating crash was not conformed as investigators spent over a year trying to come to a conclusion on the events leading up to the incident.
KTLA reports that this Tuesday, the federal safety officials are expected to announce the official cause of the crash. Investigators have been working the case for over a year and the NTSB says it will formally announce the findings at a virtual board meeting that will be live-streamed to the public on Feb. 9.
“I think the whole world is watching because it’s Kobe,” said Ed Coleman of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

The current files from the NTSB suggest that the official cause of the crash will be a combination of adverse weather and pilot error. Officials believe pilot Ara Zobayan became disoriented in the heavy Calabasas fog.
“If you remove your eyes from the equation and accelerate in a flat line, your brain interprets that as going up. When we fly into a cloud, and everything is white, all sorts of vestibular illusions take over,” Michael Mower, executive director of Southern Utah University’s aviation program said. “The bottom line is, once you take away vision, the brain starts to wander. It’s quick and very scary, and if you’re not 100% ready for it, the disorientation almost always ends in tragedy.”
The crash has been followed by a series of pending lawsuits.
