A new update reveals that 50 Cent is avoiding criminal charges in his recent mic-throwing incident that sent a woman to the hospital with a bloody face.

According to TMZ, 50 Cent “is in the clear for now” after he hurled a faulty microphone from the stage at a concert in Los Angeles on August 30. At the time, the 48-year-old rapper was performing at Crypto.com Arena when he encountered back-to-back microphone issues.
After being given a second faulty microphone, he became upset and angrily threw the microphone into the side stage, where media and event techs stood. He ended up hitting Power 106 LA radio host Bryhana Monegain in the head, leaving her with multiple lacerations to her head and face, including a deep, bloody gash in her forehead.

Monegain was ultimately sent to the hospital over the mic-throwing incident and a police report was filed. Initially, cops presented the case to the L.A. County D.A.’s Office as a felony. 50 was facing criminal battery charges, but the D.A.’s Office has since kicked the case out and down to the L.A. City Attorney’s Office.
Now, the City’s Attorney’s Office reportedly told TMZ that they too are not moving forward with any criminal charges against 50. The site notes that there is one small disclaimer, they won’t proceed as long as the rapper keeps his nose clean.

Furthermore, the case will remain open for 1 year from the date of the mic-throwing incident and could be re-evaluated for possible criminal charges if there are any further incidents between the rapper and the victim. After the incident, 50’s lawyer, Scott Lemon told TMZ that his client would “never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone.”
Monegain also broke her silence after the incident and released a statement that began, “I appreciate everyone’s support, prayers and well wishes while I’ve taken a break from social media to focus on my recovery both physically and mentally. It’s still an ongoing process but I’m thankful to be back.”
She added, “I’m also grateful to be getting back to the studio at Power 106 – I hope you’ll tune in on Thursday, October 19th for my return.”
