250 alligators have been removed from all Disney World properties since the death of a 2-year-old boy who was killed by one of the gators in 2016.

The alligators were removed by wildlife officials after Disney teamed up with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to prevent any further deaths caused by the animals. A large number of the gators who were removed from Disney properties were euthanized then sold for their meat and hide as reported by the Daily Mail. Additionally, the surviving gators were transferred to alligator farms, exhibits, and zoos.
Disney officials became proactive with the decision after 2-year-old Lane Thomas Graves was killed by an alligator at the Seven Seas Lagoon on June 18, 2016. Since then, warning signs and gates were placed by the water to prevent further incidents along with removing the gators.

The trapper involved in the seizing was paid $30 for each gator that has been captured and sold for meat.
