As we previously shared, the 31-year-old New Jersey dad was arrested and charged for the murder of his 6-year-old son Corey Micciolo. The father was placed on trial after a disturbing incident was caught on surveillance video, allegedly showing Gregor subjecting his son to a grueling treadmill workout at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse Fitness Center on March 20, 2021.

Prosecutors in the case argued that the abusive exercise session directly led to the death of the child, who passed away two weeks later from internal injuries. However, the defense countered that the boy’s death was caused by pneumonia, not physical abuse. Mario Gallucci, the attorney for the New Jersey dad, said that the video workout was “disturbing” to watch, but he insisted that it did not lead to the child’s death.

Meanwhile, the dad’s ex and child’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, testified in court and said that in addition to the video footage she saw, herself, unusual bruises and scrapes on her son following the workout. She also described an odd-shaped bruise on the child’s forehead and a scrape on his chest.

After a visit to the pediatrician, no immediate concerns were raised, despite the child alleging that his father subjected him to an intense workout on the treadmill because “he was too fat.” After the visit, the child’s condition reportedly rapidly deteriorated. On April 2, 2021, the child showed symptoms including slurred speech and nausea, prompting an emergency room visit, where he later was pronounced dead.

According to the medical examiner, the child’s death was ruled as a homicide resulting from chronic child abuse. The examiner also noted that there were severe blunt injuries to his chest and abdomen, plus a laceration to his heart. The boy’s dad was eventually arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, as well as first-degree murder, in March 2022.

As the trial continues for Christopher Gregor, the dad accused of forcing his son to run on a treadmill before his death, it is now being learned that he claims his ex, the boy’s mother Breanna Micciolo, “coached” their son to lie about the alleged abuse he suffered under his father’s care.

On Thursday (May 2), audio was played in court revealing a phone call that the dad made to child services hours before his son’s death. In the clip, Gregor said, “My son came back this morning and he was saying to me that his mom said that he had to tell the doctor that I had hit him and things of that nature, coaching him. The big issue for me is, she put in an abuse allegation, which she’s done more than a dozen times, and every single time she has said that is not the case. He said it to the worker twice.”

He added, “I just want it documented that he came home and one of the first two things he said was, ‘I don’t want to go with my Mom anymore, she’s going to try to take me away from you.’ And he also said, ‘Mom told me to lie and I had to lie.’ That was a huge concern of mine.”
