Wounded LMPD Cop Writing A Book With ‘Inside Story’ On Breonna Taylor Police Shooting

Wounded LMPD cop Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, 48, is writing a new book and offering the “inside story” on the Breonna Taylor police shooting. Mattingly, who was shot during the no-knock warrant drug raid at Taylor’s home back in March 2020, has just signed a book deal about the case.

It’s reported, the book, titled: ‘The Fight For Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy,’  will be edited and published this fall by the Tennessee-based Post Hill Press and distributed by Simon & Schuster. If you recall, before being shot during the raid by Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, Mattingly fired six shots into the couple’s apartment. Walker says he fired back in defense, believing their home was being broken into.

While ballistics reports neither confirm nor deny that any of Walker’s bullets hit Mattingly, he still sustained a gunshot injury to his femoral artery, requiring emergency surgery. In addition to being the only officer shot, Mattingly is also the only officer involved to speak out publicly since the incident. Meanwhile, Walker has an ongoing federal lawsuit against the LMPD (Louisville Metro Police Department).
